Questions
How much are closing costs in Greece?
Transfer tax is 3.09%. Add notary and legal fees (roughly 1 to 2%) and agency commission (around 2%) for total closing costs typically in the 5 to 7% range.
Does Greece have VAT on property purchases?
Normally yes, 24% VAT applies to new-build properties. However, this VAT has been suspended through December 31, 2026.
Why do I need a Greek lawyer?
Essential given the ongoing rollout of the Greek Cadastre (Ktimatologio). Some older properties remain registered in legacy land registries, which can complicate title verification.
